I was kind of hesitant about my Early Christian and Byzantine Art class (I’d signed up for it mostly because it was not filled while I was registering), but the first day has eliminated that hesitation. It turns out my professor is a Byzantinist (I didn’t even know that was a thing) and is very passionate about all things Byzantine. I often feel like the quality of a class is proportionate to the teacher’s passion for the subject, so I have a good feeling about this.
Also, fun fact: did you know that the word “byzantine” means complex and confusing? I didn’t!
